For true adventure and unique wildlife, Costa Rica is the place. Our “Costa Rica Adventure” program offers the ultimate outdoor tour experience in nature’s playgrounds throughout Costa Rica. Expert naturalist guides are included in many of the programmed activities. Kayaking at Tamarindo Estuary, canopy tour at Ecolodge, snorkeling, white-water rafting and more all await in this adventure.
Day 1: SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA
Arrival at Juan Santamaria International Airport. A Swiss Travel Service representative will meet and greet you upon arrival and will transfer you to Occidental Torremolinos Hotel for overnight.
Day 2: (B,L,D) SAN JOSE - PACUARE RIVER
Today we will wind through Braulio Carrillo National Park, enjoying spectacular, sweeping views of expansive virgin rainforest. Once in the water at the Pacuare River you will experience, (rapids of III and IV category), the exhilaration of riding the waves on this declared Wild and Scenic River, which courses through a tropical wilderness of dense vegetation. Overnight at the lodge surrounded by tropical foliage, towering trees and dozens of acres of virgin rainforest. Rustic yet elegant and comfortable lodge.
Day 3: (B,L) PACUARE RIVER - SARAPIQUI AREA
After breakfast, you will have some time on your own to explore the rainforest and waterfalls surrounding the lodge before we launch the rafts again. Rafting becomes even more exciting today as you begin to use the skills and experience gained the day before, shooting through fast rapids and exquisite scenery. We will stop the rafts along the journey where you can explore a pure jungle cascade, beckoning you to jump in. Finally you will be provided with a transfer to La Quinta de Sarapiqui Lodge where you will spend a relaxing night.
Day 4: (B) SARAPIQUI - LAKE ARENAL AREA
Morning at leisure, with the option to enjoy optional activities such as: Horseback riding, frogs tour, butterfly farm, and others. In the afternoon, our transportation will pick you up and departure to Ecolodge, located in the Arenal Lake area. You’ll have a two-night stay at Ecolodge.
Day 5: (B) LAKE ARENAL AREA
Today you will see the rainforest from a perspective previously reserved for monkeys and birds. You’ll glide from treetop to treetop along zip lines that whisk you high above the forest floor. While on the several platforms that connect the trees, expert naturalist guides will bring the forest alive for you.
Day 6: (B) LAKE ARENAL - TAMARINDO BEACH, GUANACASTE
After breakfast, our transportation will take you to Tamarindo Diria Hotel located in Tamarindo Beach on Costa Rica’s North Pacific side. Check-in and overnight.
Day 7: (B) TAMARINDO BEACH AREA
Morning at leisure. In the afternoon, visit the estuary by kayak, located next to Tamarindo Bay. Here you will have the opportunity get close to nature without disturbing the environment. This non-intrusive approach lets you discover natural wonders that are normally beyond visitors´ eyes. Train your eyes to look for monkeys, herons, roseate spoonbills and many other types of birds. Overnight in Tamarindo Diria Hotel.
Day 8: (B) TAMARINDO BEACH AREA
Today we will go on a boat to a deserted beach in the Tamarindo Bay, where you can enjoy snorkeling. Also in the area you can relax or swim in the warm waters of the bay. Overnight at Tamarindo Diria Hotel.
Day 9: (B) TAMARINDO BEACH - SAN JOSE
Breakfast at the Hotel. Morning at leisure. For the afternoon you will be provided with our shuttle bus transfer back to San Jose in our shuttle bus. Check-in and overnight at the Occidental Torremolinos Hotel.
Day 10: (B) DEPARTURE DAY
Breakfast at the hotel and departure transfer to Juan Santamaria International Airport.

• Unescorted transfer from La Quinta de Sarapiqui Lodge to Ecolodge.

• Half-day canopy tour at Ecolodge
