The Caribbean coast of Costa Rica shelters the most complex rainforest in the country. Adventure, nature, harmony, peace, and beauty are just some of the words that apply to Limon, Costa Rica’s Caribbean province. Our package is designed for he who truly wants close contact with nature. The trip starts out with a visit to well-known Tortuguero for two nights, including a stay at the Laguna Lodge and another two nights in Cariblue Hotel’s uniquely styled rooms in Puerto Viejo of Limon. Your client will also visit the Irazu Volcano, historic Orosi Valley, including its colonial church.
Day 1: SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA
Arrival at Juan Santamaria International Airport. A Swiss Travel Service representative will meet and greet you upon arrival and will transfer you to Britannia Hotel. Check-in and overnight there.
Day 2: (B) SAN JOSE – PUERTO VIEJO DE LIMON
You will be picked up at Britannia Hotel and depart for the South Caribbean of Costa Rica, specifically to the Puerto Viejo de Limon area. Along the way, palm trees and virgin rain forests line the road. Very little development has occurred on this side of the country, thus preserving the area as an ideal paradise where sustainable relations between man and nature are the norm. Check-in and overnight in Cariblue Hotel.
Day 3: (B) PUERTO VIEJO DE LIMON AREA
Day at leisure to enjoy the beach or optional activities such us: tours to indigenous reserves, Cahuita National Park, snorkeling, surfing, and others. Overnight in Cariblue Hotel.
Day 4: (B,L,D) PUERTO VIEJO DE LIMON - TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, check out and depart for dock (Siquirres or Matina area) to start your journey to Tortuguero National Park. A two-hour boat ride will take you through natural and man-made canals sheltered by the rainforest’s thick vegetation. From your boat you will be able to admire the unique flora and fauna of this area. Check-in and overnight in Laguna Lodge. In the afternoon you will the opportunity to explore the tiny Caribbean village of Tortuguero.
Day 5: (B,L,D) TORTUGUERO AREA
Today you will explore the smaller canals and get closer to nature.
From July through September you can take the optional turtle-watching tour during the evening to admire one of the most impressive miracles of life when the massive sea turtles arrive en masse to lay their eggs on the beach. Overnight in Laguna Lodge.
Day 6: (B) TORTUGUERO - TURRIALBA AREA
After breakfast you will be transferred by boat to the dock (Siquirres or Matina area) to continue by ground to Casa Turire Hotel located in the Turrialba area, in the Cartago province. Check-in and overnight in Casa Turire Hotel. Afternoon at leisure for optional activities in the area.
Day 7: (B) TURRIALBA - IRAZU VOLCANO – SAN JOSE
Check out early and depart for San Jose, stopping en route in Cartago, the former capital city of Costa Rica. Here, we will visit imposing Irazu Volcano, the highest in the country. Sweeping views will delight your eyes throughout the ride up the volcano. There will be plenty of time to walk to the edge of the crater and to admire its moon-like surface. Then you’ll visit Costa Rica’s colonial capital, Cartago, and Los Angeles Cathedral, home of Costa Rica’s Virgin shrine. Continue on to San Jose, visiting the historic Orosi Valley and its colonial church, home of the first Spanish settlers in the region. Check-in and overnight in Britannia Hotel.
Day 8: (B) DEPARTURE DAY
Transfer to Juan Santamaria International Airport.

• Two (2) nights in standard room at Cariblue Hotel (Breakfast included).

• Boat ride with guide from dock to Laguna Lodge.
• Two (2) nights in standard room at Laguna Lodge (all meals, transportation, guided tours to Tortuguero village and canals.
• Regular unescorted transfer from Siquirres to Casa Turire Hotel.
• One (1) night in standard room at Casa Turire Hotel (breakfast included).
• Private guided transfer from Casa Turire Hotel to San Jose, visiting en route Irazu Volcano and Orosi Valley (entrance fee included).
