Romantic Hideaway in the Highlands 9 Days/ 8 Nights Features 1-day rafting trip on the Chiriqui River, tour the Friendship International Park, hiking around the Baru Volcano – and you will do the rest… Day 1: Arrive in Panama Arrive at Panama’s International Airport where an EcoCircuitos representative will be awaiting you and will transfer you to your hotel in Panama City. Day 2: Panama City Tour (BL) Day 3: Los Quetzales Cabins Early morning you will have a flight to David, in the western province of Chiriqui. Then transfer by car to the western side of the volcano to Cerro Punta and visit the Friendship Park shared with Costa Rica. This park was recognized in 1986 as a Biosphere Reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend the afternoon and night at the alpine-style lodge at Los Quetzales Chalets, located deep within the cloud forest of the Volcan Baru National Park. The cabins are at canopy level and have fully-equipped kitchens, fireplaces and balconies. The breathtaking views, privacy, rich birdlife and cloud forest vegetation, create a romantic and unique atmosphere. Optional tours in the afternoon include, exploring the different trails that hold pristine rivers and private waterfalls. Another option is to get massages and facials after relaxing in the jacuzzi and sauna of the exclusive spa facilities in Los Quetzales Hotel, located about a mile below the chalets. (B) Day 4: Los Quetzales Cabins Wake up to beautiful sound of the birds singing and the soothing sound of the river. Enjoy breakfast in bed served catered to you. See the Resplendent Quetzal from the terrace of your cabin and relax with a scenic view of primary-forest trees, mountains and surrounding cloud forest. At your request, a friendly indigenous guide will take you along numerous private trails surrounding the 350-hectare compound. In the afternoon, ride mountain bikes or gallop on horseback into spectacular sunsets and quaint villages. The nearby flowing streams and sounds of the forest provide a harmonic chorus to tranquil setting of this remote retreat. (B) Day 5: Boquete- Panamonte Begin the day with a soothing massage with the mountain as your backdrop, or perhaps a facial with tropical herbs that will stimulate your skin, leaving it smooth and rejuvenated. After lunch, transfer by car to the picturesque mountain town of Boquete. In the afternoon, visit a private flower garden and a coffee roasting facility. You may have dinner at one of the excellent restaurants in the town of Boquete. Spend the night at Hotel Panamonte. (B) Day 6: White Water River Rafting, Boquete Rafting trip to the Chiriqui River takes you down one of the most exotic and scenic rivers of the country. It is a journey through unspoiled jungle with exciting rapids. You will have lunch on the river. Spend the night at Panamonte. (B Box Lunch) Day 7: Baru Volcano Hiking Tour After breakfast you will hike around the Baru National Park where you will have the opportunity to see the elusive Quetzal in its habitat of orchids and bromeliads. This is a beautiful hike in the cloud forest. Overnight and dinner at lodge in Boquete. (B) Day 8: Panama City After breakfast you will be transferred to the David Airport for your flight to Panama City. Enjoy your afternoon in the city to explore and relax at your leisure. At night watch a folkloric show and have dinner at Tinajas Restaurant. Spend the night at a hotel in the city. (BD) DAY 9: Departure Panama City You will be transferred to the international airport approximately two hours before your departure time. (B) |
