 Day 1 USA/BUENOS AIRES: Depart the USA on your overnight flight to Buenos Aires. Dinner and breakfast served on board. Day 2 BUENOS AIRES: Early morning arrival with meeting and transfer to your hotel. Your afternoon sightseeing includes visits to Plaza de Mayo, the "Casa Rosada" Government House, the famous Colon Opera House and 9th of July Avenue, considered to be the world's widest boulevard. You'll also visit the Cathedral, Palermo Park, the Recoleta area and the colorful Italian district of La Boca. B Day 3 BUENOS AIRES: Full day excursion to the countryside. The typical landscape of Argentine's humid Pampa, one of the most fertile natural prairies in the world is famous for its meat and cereal production. Visitors in this tour receive a reception with "empanadas" (meat pies), "asado" (roast meat), good Argentine wines, a show with folk songs and dances and an exhibition of the gauchoís skills with riding, taming and the use of the lasso. Return to Buenos Aires for overnight. B,L Day 4 BUENOS AIRES: Day at leisure for personal exploration of the city so often called the "Paris of South America" for its European style. Go bargain shopping or choose one of the many optional excursions available. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at a typical restaurant followed by an amazing Tango performance. B Day 5 BUENOS AIRES/MENDOZA: Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Mendoza, founded by the Spaniards more than four centuries ago. The area produces 75% of Argentine wines and it is considered one of the best in the world. In the afternoon you will visit the Norton and Chandon vineyards and witness the extraction of the fruits from the earth and wine making procedures. Wine tasting and return to the hotel for overnight. B Day 6 MENDOZA: Full day high mountain excursion. Travelling to the west we enter the Andes Cordillera through an excellent mountain road towards the border with Chile, admiring among other attractions the Aconcagua - the highest mountain in America-. Along the road we visit Chacras de Coria, Potrerillos Valley, Uspallata Valley, Penitentes Ski Resort, the natural bridge of the Inca and the border village of Las Cuevas. Weather and road conditions permitting, we go up to 4,200 meters (9.900 ft) above sea level, where the image of Christ the Redeemer is located. The return is by way of the Toro Ravine. B Day 7 MENDOZA/ BARILOCHE: Transfer to the airport for your flight to the charming city of Bariloche, on the shores of Lake Nahuel-Huapi in the upper Patagonia region. Meeting and transfer to your hotel. Balance of day at leisure. B Day 8 BARILOCHE: Morning at leisure to enjoy the relaxing mountain scenery and explore the town on your own. The area is often compared to Switzerland because of its alpine flavor. An afternoon “short circuit” excursion will take you to the Nahuel-Huapi National Park to be amazed by the spectacular sights of pristine glacial lakes, rivers, gorges, dense forests and Andean peaks in this idyllic alpine setting. Return to Bariloche for overnight. B Day 9 BARILOCHE: Full day at leisure. You may want to join an excursion across Lake Nahuel-Huapi by launch to the Quetrihue Peninsula to see the famous Arrayanes Woods and Victoria Island. Go shopping for local handicrafts and enjoy a cup of Bariloche’s famous hot chocolate or just relax in this peaceful setting. B Day 10 BARILOCHE / IGUASSU FALLS: Transfer to the airport for your flight to the Argentine-side of Iguassu Falls, the world's most impressive waterfalls. Meeting and transfer to your hotel. B Day 11 IGUASSU FALLS: In the morning depart on a walking tour of the Falls. The views are magnificent, especially the one right on top of the Devil's Throat, arrived at by little boats leading through a plotted water corridor on the edge of the basaltic plateau. Balance of day at leisure. B Day 12 IGUASSU FALLS/ EL CALAFATE: Transfer to the airport for your flight to El Calafate. Meeting and transfer to your hotel. Remainder of afternoon at leisure to explore the village. B Day 13 EL CALAFATE: Full day excursion to Estancia Cristina, crossing the Lago Argentino aboard the “Upsala Explorer”. Amazing views of mountains and Spegazzini and Upsala glaciers, as we enter the Cristina channel. Once arrived, two main excursions are available (UNIMOG safari and horseback riding). Lamb barbecue included. Afternoon return to Puerto Banderas and drive back to Calafate. This excursion is subject to itinerary changes or cancellation (refundable) due to the lakes rough conditions. B L Day 14 EL CALAFATE: Full day excursion to the Perito Moreno glacier declared a "Mankind Heritage Site" by the UNESCO. The Moreno glacier is one of the fastest advancing glaciers in the world. This full day excursion includes a visit to the main vista point for an awesome panoramic view of this colossus and the continental Ice shelf. Optional one hour boat ride on our "Perito Moreno" boat for close-up views approaching the front wall of the glacier. Return to Calafate. B Day 15 EL CALAFATE/ BUENOS AIRES/ USA: Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Buenos Aires and connecting flight back to the USA. B A choice of excluding the southern Patagonia portion of the itinerary, days 12 to 15, is available. See rates below.
